Kamijima is a small group of islands in Ehime prefecture between Honshu and Shikoku. The islands of Yuge, Ikena, Iwagi and Sashima are connected by suspension bridges. Although there is no bridge connecting Yuge with Honshu, Kamijima is easilly reached via regular car ferry services from Innoshima's Nagasaki port to Ikena Island. There are also high speed boat services connecting Kamijima with Honshu's Mihara city and Shikoku's Imabari city.
The islands of Kamijima are most well know for their picturesque sea views and relatively pristine natural environment. They are also the host of one of Japan's national colleges, Yuge Kosen, where students can study maritine technology, information technology or mechanotronics.
